Web Designer Ben here with another blog; this time I thought I’d do something a little different.

So the sun has been shining despite almost being September, my garden is still looking good, but the only thing that’s been needing brightening up is my very own Micro Pub that I’ve set up in the back garden; The Jack Russel’s Retreat.

Years back, me and my old man made a micro pub in my back garden from an old brick outhouse, and I have to be honest – it’s pretty cool. Over the winter it’s been neglected and now needs a bit of TLC, so what better way than starting with a bar stool makeover?

The guys from the homeware buying team kindly hooked me up with some sample patterns from the collection, and I think we can all agree, they came out pretty well.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no professional upholsterer, but nevertheless I just wanted to give these a quick makeover. Don’t hold me over coals if you’re not happy with the finish!

 

 

 

I started by removing the heads from the legs, laying out a cut of fabric, and using the staple gun to keep it tight and as crease-free as possible.

I used a different fabric for each stool. The peacock material was my particular favourite.

 

 

As you can see, they all look pretty unique, but still sit together nicely. I love an eclectic approach.

 

 

The large bar stool came out really well, despite the fact you can see the creasing around the edge of all the stools, but I’m happy with the overall look.

 

 

One of the stools wouldn’t come apart, so I had to staple it in place. You have to work with what you’ve got, and despite that, it actually turned out pretty well… Better than I expected, which just goes to show you’ve got to trust the process!

The only downside was that this final stool broke the staple gun.
